Today's photograph is somewhat uninspired, but gardening always makes me happy. It's relaxing. It gives you a sense of achievement. It lets you enjoy the sun while still being productive. Not to mention, home grown always tastes so much better.
Mum and I grow peas and strawberries for my baby niece every year because she loves sitting in the garden stuffing her face. Apparently this was a trait that I was known for at her age, which explains why mum has never used sprays or pesticides in her gardens.
I have fond memories of picking peas from my grandmother's garden and shelling them with my family. We would meticulously divide them up between us and they would all scoff them down as they shelled each one ... but not me. I would tip my peas into a bowl (which I guarded with my life!) then eat them in front of everyone else in the hours that followed, making them jealous that they hadn't saved some peas for later. Yum!
ReplyDeleteFresh peas are AMAZING! Sadly, when my baby niece is around, nobody else gets a look in. It's amazing how intimidating a two year old can be when her peas are in danger... :D
